A rose in the garden….

Once the center of social life and culture in Smithville, the bandstand and original statues could not survive the heated altercations of the years of the Smith-Wright Feud. The bandstand burned in 1895 and the stone busts of early settlers Jacob Winlee Smith and his bride Moment Smith disappeared. It is not known whether the busts were destroyed or were stolen during the fighting.

Today, paths wind through beautiful gardens in The Square and the town council is discussing plans for a new bandstand

For now, enjoy a walk through the beautifully maintained gardens. Whatever the weather, a stop at Smithville Square Historic Park & Gardens is a must when you visit Daffodil Township.
