A favorite spot for families and visitors is Lake Lottawata located just southwest of downtown Daffodil Township. Picnic tables and stone grills are available for use. You can also reserve one or more picnic areas for special occasions: reunions, family gatherings…even weddings! More than one set of young lovers has tied the knot on the lake shore.

Lake Lottawata is also the location of the Daffodil Township Independence Day Celebration. Historically, Miss Independence was crowned in the afternoon. In more recent years, The Daffodillies – the township’s synchronized swim club – performs on the lake. Their use of sparklers in their performance is a thrilling kick-off to the fireworks display over the lake each year.

Daffodilians are avid swimmers and begin teaching youngsters about the water at an early age. “Safety and fun go hand-in-hand,” said Acting Mayor Paula Smith. “And Daffodilians are good at both!”
